Our school is a public school situated in Tirnavos, a small town in the center of Greece, 17 kilometers far from Larisa which is capital city of region Thessaly. Tirnavos is known for its vineyards and famous wine. It has five public primary schools. One of them is our school.

It is called the “3rd primary school of Tirnavos” located on the west side of the town. The school is housed in one building of eleven classes divided in two floors. Mr John Mokias is the Headteacher of the school. Our school has 185 students and 24 teachers for many different subjects.  “3rd primary school of Tirnavos” is a typical elementary Greek school. Our students are aged from seven to twelve years. They come from different social, economic and cultural backgrounds.

Since the age of 7 our students have access to an electronic learning environment at school using computers. For that lesson there is a special teacher. From first grade students learn English and from the fifth grade they learn French or German language as the second foreign language. The curriculum follows the requirements of the Greek Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs.

In our program we strive to cultivate in our students an awareness of citizenship. That is why students of sixth grade have the special lesson of social and political education. One of the most artistic project in our school is the Shadow Theater. Karagiozis is the name of its hero, a very poor but brilliant man who does everything he can to help his family survive.

Our land has a long history and there are many monuments of our civilization spread around in every place. Our culture has many common elements with the culture of other European nations. That is the reason why we draw great attention and importance to the cultivation of European awareness in our students.
