Our school is called Kesklinna Põhikool (eng. Central Basic School). It is located in Kohtla- Järve city and municipality in north-eastern Estonia. Kohtla- Järve has a unique layout it is subdivided into four administrative districts. A Järve part where our school is located has 17,054 inhabitants.

The main goals of or school are the following: to impropve the results of learning activity through students motivation; to contribute development of each student; to use digital methods in work; to create safe environment for students’ development; to increase a level of professional competence of teachers; to increase school image through international projects in order to attract students.

There are 450 pupils aged 7-16 and work 41 teachers in our school. We are Russian school. Our school curriculum is based on state curriculum for basic schools. In frames of the curriculum we teach students the following subjects: Russian as a mother tongue, Estonian and English as foreign languages, Literature, Maths, Biology, Geography, Art, Chemistry, Physics, Craft, PE, Music, History, ICT, Social Science and Study of Human Nature. In Estonia basic education is obligotary for students aged 7-16.
Our school actively participates in various local projects and programmes. Besides the usual classes we have two extracurricular ones: music and drama classes, where students can practice and develop their skills additionaly. That’s way we organize a lot of different creative events such as music or drama festivals in our school in order to show students’ creative skills. We also organize different art exhibitions on various topics. Moreover, we have a lot of school projects connected with handmade creation.

A history of our city is quite interesting and we have some unique sights to show and include them in the frame of the project.
